TAMPA – The South Tampa Chamber of Commerce was proud to present scholarships to six Tampa area graduating seniors during a reception hosted at SunCoast Credit Union on May 17th.

“Our scholarship program was founded 4 years ago by the Chamber’s Education Committee, and each year has grown thanks to the generosity of our members. To date we have awarded 15 scholarships and I cannot think of a more important initiative than investing in our students, who are future of our workforce and our community,” said Chamber CEO Kelly Flannery.

In addition to the scholarship program, the Chamber’s Education Committee hosts an Annual New Teacher’s Welcome Breakfast where they welcome more than 100 new hire teachers from 17 South Tampa area schools each year. The committee also partners with the Plant High School Mentor Connect Program, the Robinson High School Career Fair, provides dozens of volunteers each year for the Great American Teach-In, and has donated more than 300 back packs full of school supplies to South Tampa students in need since 2016.
