The winner of the 2015 Small Business of the Year Awards will be presented, September 18 at the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts. These awards highlight the impact of small business on the community and celebrate the achievements of the best of the best in Tampa Bay.

Urban E Recycling was established in the fall of 2012, starting in a garage of the founder’s home in Old Seminole Heights, Tampa. From the initial investment of $1000, the company now occupies 8,000 square feet of warehouse, employs 13 local individuals and owns two trucks, forklifts, security cage, erasing and degaussing equipment and a surveillance system for customer and employee security.

The business model is unique, in that the company doesn’t charge for pick-ups, data destruction or the cost of recycling. All the profits come from dismantling and scrapping electronic and selling the components to other markets, nationwide.

Urban E Recycling is involved with several local chambers; give generously to the Rotary Club, YMCA Organization, Alzheimer’s Association and contribute to other local charities.

The physical location of Urban E Recycling is 5144 Le Tourneau Circle, on the corner of 56th Street and Hillsborough, across from NetPark. You can find them on the web at: www.urbanerecycling.com or phone 813-501-9346. Refer to the website to check for items they recycle.
